12-30-10

Just one more day left in 2010. Wow. It's been a quick year but overall, a good one-- so much has changed. These last weeks, I've been really productive--It's amazing how much work I can get done when I'm not at work. One of my most important goals for the new year is to make a change as soon as possible so that my daily energy is spent in the best possible way. I'm gonna "live like I'm dyin'" and I hope you all do too in 2011!! Cheers everyone!

In the mood for some Emerson and Thoreau tonight--Google these guys and you can spend hours reading utter brilliance.

Here's my favorite of the night:

Only hours until winter break begins!! Whoohoo! I played "Soul Sister" for a group of high school students this AM who said I sounded better than Train. Wow, "better than Train!" That will stick with me--they are a critical group these teens and these were students who were not mine, so I believe their compliment was sincere--(no purpose for them to suck up to me...lol). It was a good moment, and I wanted to talk about "Soul Sister" and how many rhetorical tools can be found within the song, or play "Creep" or something for them, but there was no time. I put the guitar down so their teacher could administer their final exam because she had to, assessing what they may have learned for data collection instead of letting them engage in something new. The moment passed much too quickly.

As the folks here at the high school bustle about finishing grades and projects, I can only focus on getting out of here...permanently. I love the students and the performance aspect of teaching, but I'm done counting away hours of my day, and my guitar is growing restless from sitting quiet in the corner.

Today it's bitter cold and snowing outside, but I'm very lucky to be very warm on the inside, listening to brilliant new music. On top of it, it smells extraordinary here: There is bread in the breadmaker and a roast in the crockpot, and in moments, I know there will be a raging fire in the fireplace. Wow! Am I dreaming?!!

Okay, nope, I'm not dreaming; I'm awake and working on updating these pages along with my Facebook page and my Reverb page, etc. etc. Please click through these pages for updates on my various projects--hope you enjoy the madness.

Stay warm out there!!

Cheers.
